Blog Post 10

As a teacher, I will most likely use data collection to gain feedback from my students and Excel for my grade book. I plan on using surveys within my classroom to communicate with my students' parents such as volunteering or party supplies. I will also give my students surveys during class so I can understand how much they are understanding. As a special education teacher, communication is key to whether or not my students are actually excelling or not. I will need them to be honest to me and be able to communicate their ideas to me clearly. 

Some topics that I found most interesting from reviewing my classmates' blogs are the adaptive technologies and the first blog when we talked about our experiences with technology. Having an interest in special education makes adaptive technologies extremely interesting to me because I will be using most of those technologies in my classroom. I also really enjoyed the ice breaker post, this was a great way to connect with my fellow classmates through our ability or inability to use technology. It also reminds me of how far we have come through this semester. 

Next I would like to learn how to code. This is a useful skill to have a digital citizen and as a teacher because being able to code allows a person to personalize their technology. I could create a super cool calculator in powerpoint or customize shortcuts for my computer. I will achieve this goal by taking the time to use the multiple resources available to me such as Lynda.com and take a class on coding.

Teachers and students are influenced by society and each other to use technology inside the classroom. Teachers are always looking for new ways to engage their students so the use of new technology is a great way for such engagement. Students are influenced by their innovation and creativity to make schoolwork more fun. The Flipped Classroom is where the teacher designs a class where the students are in charge of their learning through lectures being homework and the classroom time is spent understanding the concepts. In chapter ten, the phrasing  “sage on the stage” to “guide on the side" to describe the teachers' role inside of the classroom. This is an interesting idea for many teachers because   the traditional role for a teacher is to be in charge but with a flipped classroom design the teacher is less the center of the classroom but an extra resource to the students.  Open education is where classes are offered to the public online which allows anyone to learn topics.  Students are able to learn new material if they choose to and teachers can develop their skills as an educator. I have had a positive experience on Twitter so far during this class. I am following many education governmental agencies and teacher resources along with my fellow classmates. I have been interacting with news articles from various education sections of news outlets. This has been beneficial to see what is the newest education news and what research is being done. The knowledge of these two can help me to create a better classroom and teaching environment. I am able implement new research findings and be better aware of situations inside or outside of the classroom. Twitter can be helpful in my future career to create a private twitter to showcase my students' work to their parents or to create an online discussion. It also can be useful to gain more information and to pass that information onto my future students.
