ILP Participation Lynda Tutorial


My experience using Lynda tutorials have been quite a positive one. I have always been interested in photography because my mother as a hobby. I recently have gotten a camera but I have not had the time to figure out the settings. The tutorial that I watched was titled Photography 101 and was for beginners. This tutorial was very helpful at explaining all the settings on a camera as well as how to change them to fit the picture. The man in the video was repetitive and clear with his instructions so they were easily understandable. Lynda is a very easy website to use with topics and difficulties ranging from beginner to expert so everyone can find the perfect fit for them.

The Flipped Classroom is where the teacher designs a class where the students are in charge of their learning through lectures being homework and the classroom time is spent understanding the concepts. In chapter ten, the phrasing  “sage on the stage” to “guide on the side" to describe the teachers' role inside of the classroom. This is an interesting idea for many teachers because   the traditional role for a teacher is to be in charge but with a flipped classroom design the teacher is less the center of the classroom but an extra resource to the students.  Open education is where classes are offered to the public online which allows anyone to learn topics.  Students are able to learn new material if they choose to and teachers can develop their skills as an educator. I have had a positive experience on Twitter so far during this class. I am following many education governmental agencies and teacher resources along with my fellow classmates. I have been interacting with news articles from various education sections of news outlets. This has been beneficial to see what is the newest education news and what research is being done. The knowledge of these two can help me to create a better classroom and teaching environment. I am able implement new research findings and be better aware of situations inside or outside of the classroom. Twitter can be helpful in my future career to create a private twitter to showcase my students' work to their parents or to create an online discussion. It also can be useful to gain more information and to pass that information onto my future students.
